Not be a citizen of a European Union State, the European Economic Area, or Switzerland, nor a family member of citizens of these countries to whom the Union citizen regime applies.
Not be unlawfully present in Spanish territory.
Have no criminal record in Spain and in the countries where they have resided during the last five years, for crimes existing in Spanish law.
Not be prohibited from entering Spain and not be listed as inadmissible in the territorial space of countries with which Spain has signed an agreement to that effect.
Have the necessary financial means to cover the costs of stay and return, and, if applicable, those of their family members.
Have public or private health insurance arranged with an insurance company authorized to operate in Spain.
Not suffer from any diseases that could have serious public health repercussions according to the provisions of the International Health Regulations of 2005.
Not be, if applicable, within the period of commitment of non-return to Spain that the foreigner has assumed by participating in a voluntary return program.
Have paid the processing fee for the procedures.

Yes. Many people believe that they cannot invest with this type of authorization because they associate it with professional activity. However, the Non-Lucrative Residence does allow you to invest and thereby have an additional source of income, for example, through the distribution of corporate dividends.
Yes, foreigners with a Non-Lucrative Residence Authorization can freely engage in educational and/or academic activities in Spain. Despite not being allowed to work, they can participate in university internships, even if they are paid. According to Article 2.3 of Royal Decree 592/2014, of July 11th, university internships through agreements with professional entities are purely educational and therefore not considered employment.
All those individuals with sufficient economic resources to cover expenses during their residency in Spain without the need to engage in any work activity. Additionally, this visa allows the applicant to travel with their spouse, minor children, and dependent ascendants over 65 years old.
Yes, once you have been in Spain and held your residency for more than a year, it is possible to apply to change your residency to one that allows you to work, either as an employee or self-employed, depending on the specific requirements for each.
It is not recommended, given that the applicant must prove the availability of economic resources, in order to be able to spend it freely in Spanish territory.
No, this visa only allows applicants to reside in Spanish territory. However, this type of permit grants the right to freely move within the Schengen Area without any limitations.
Yes, the minor children of the applicant have the possibility to access public schools once they are registered in the city where they will reside. Therefore, it is not advisable to request access to a public school from the beginning of the visa process, since the applicant and their family members would be outside Spanish territory and not registered.
